Superintendent Anna Nolin will join the Waban Area Council for a Community Q&A on May 14

The event will offer residents an opportunity to hear directly from Superintendent Nolin about the current state of Newton’s public schools, the challenges facing the district, and her vision for the future. Topics are expected to include academic performance, curriculum, school funding, enrollment trends, district priorities, and efforts to strengthen confidence in Newton Public Schools.

After approving the minutes from the prior month’s meeting, the WAC hosted a Q&A discussion with Dr. Nolin, Superintendent of Newton Public Schools, moderated by WAC member Hunter Malasky and attended by members of the Waban community. Dr. Nolin discussed the district's challenges and progress, including post-COVID recovery efforts, curriculum improvements, student achievement, and enrollment trends. The discussion covered budget constraints, technology in classrooms, cell phone policies, and the implementation of new curriculum standards. Dr. Nolan emphasized the need for continued investment in curriculum and strong teacher support systems.
